Our Mission
Leadership, liberation, and lasting transformation.
At BAFFLA, our mission is to teach and develop leadership skills that empower Black Americans in community and economic development, career enhancement, organizing, and human rights — alongside consciousness of anti-Black racism, awareness of Black American arts and culture, and rigorous academic research.

Under the direction of Dr. Mustafaa Muhamed, BAFFLA-RD advances a rigorous, lineage-specific research agenda focused on Foundational Black American faculty, systemic anti-Black American racism, and the structural conditions shaping academic and professional life for descendants of U.S. Freedmen.
